dynamic music for creative people

Michael Hanf is a composer, performer, and engineer from Brooklyn. A prolific session musician, he has appeared on recordings with dozens of bands, including San Fermin, Hess is More, Young Jean Lee, Oh Land and Samia. Michael has also performed with David Byrne, Jon Brion, StereoTrash$, and Sam Amidon. His original music can be heard on the hit Axios podcast, How It Happened — which hit #1 on Apple Podcasts — as well as various films, including ZeroOne, The Condor and The Eagle.

When he's not performing or composing, Michael is an avid home studio experimenter, releasing records under the names Big Ocean, Vida Mala, and Detective Logan. As the owner and operator of T.O.P. Brand Music, Michael maintains a roster of electronic oddballs — guiding their creative output. T.O.P. Brand Music recently branched out into modular synthesis design and will be releasing their first batch of custom Eurorack modules in 2121.

Michael is a frequent collaborator with Allen Tate, who is currently producing Michael's first official solo album.
